At Eos, we're committed to helping our students grow and learn through powerful outdoor experiences and exposure to the greatest ideas and works of the western canon
Our Vision

Challenging the four walls of the tradition, Eos brings learning and life together.
“Nature is pleased with simplicity. And nature is no dummy."

Our Story
The Eos Wilderness Institute was founded by Thomas Pack and Thomas Verdi, who met while pursuing their master’s degrees in Education Entrepreneurship at the University of Pennsylvania. On top of sharing a first name, both Thomas’ also shared a passion for thoughtful and serious educational practices, as well as a love for the great outdoors and the works of the western canon.
Together, they created Eos as a way to bring young people away from their screens and into the natural world, while also immersing them in the timeless ideas and writings of the greatest thinkers and philosophers. At Eos, we believe that the combination of outdoor adventure and classical education is the perfect recipe for personal growth and development.
We also understand the pressure that high school students face when it comes to the college application process. That’s why we’ve worked with top educators to develop a curriculum that helps students translate their wilderness experiences and what they’ve learned from the great thinkers they study into an outline for a personal essay that is deeply personal and meaningful to them. This essay outline is designed to fit the prompts and guidelines of the Common Application, but even if students don’t choose to use it for their college applications, they’ll leave Eos with a powerful tool for self-expression and reflection.
At Eos, we’re committed to helping our students grow and learn through powerful outdoor experiences and exposure to the greatest ideas and works of the western cannon.
